The first points of contact of the Colombia Companions with the country Colombia reach back 20 years. The then flaming enthusiasm for the country and its people endured until today. The observation of Colombia´s rapid development eventually lead to the idea to create investment opportunities in the agriculture and forestry sector and to also make these accessible for German investors.

Markus Baumanns moves with his family to Colombia and works for the German Foreign Office. At that time, he gets to know Alexander von Bila among others, who assists German companies with his expertise as international lawyer.
The law firm of Alexander von Bila is developing itself to become the first point of contact for German companies and persons, that want to enter the Colombian Market. Markus Baumanns regularly travels to Colombia after his return to Germany in 2000 to maintain the close relationship to his Colombian friends and business partners.October 2011:
Frank Sadowsky, Markus Baumanns and Torsten Schumacher conduct first joined trip to Colombia with the idea to develop an investment opportunity in the forestry sector.2012 – 2013:
Beginning of the intensive search for suitable land with the objective of creating a mixed forest with typical tropical woods in combination with native species. The purchase decision for the 700 hectare Finca Cafmato in the department of Vichada in Colombia is taken in July 2013.
Investigative research for the development of the investment model and conducting of a feasibility study taking into account the know-how of scientific institutes, studies and players in the region.June 2015:
The research resulted in the decision against the construction of a mixed forest with tropical woods and for the development of an ecological and sustainable mixed plantation with Cashew as the main crop in combination with other endemic plant species. This is followed by further research on the value chain of cashew: the cultivation of cashew, the processing and production of cashew products as well as the cashew market through extensive analysis of the cashew players in Colombia.Since September 2015:
Analysis of the real estate market in Bogotá. Research about supply and demand as well as the merchantable construction forms and regulations. Inspection of various objects and decision for the focus area on the outskirts of the historic city La Candelaria in the capital Bogotá.November 2015:
Taking of the decision to start with a cashew pilot project in Phase I on the Finca Cafmato. Cultivation of two sample plantations with different test runs on varying cultivation methods with the goal of figuring out the ideal cultivation method for the project Phase II and III and to develop an extensive and scalable cashew plantation to become an impact investment project.
Purchase of new apartments together with co-investors in the 16 storied Torre de Blanc, which is being developed in the vibrant city center on the outskirts of the oldtown and will be finished until 2018. (Further information can be found here)October 2016:

The partners of the real estate projects, Markus Baumanns, Frank Sadowsky und Torsten Schumacher, purchase their first building site in top location in Bogotá´s historic center with the aim to construct a residential building that creates a new standard of construction quality in the region.
